Maintenance is Key to Healthy Living
Once the spinal tissues are healed and rehabilitatated and your doctor has determined that the biomechanics of your spine have returned to an optimal state, you may receive a recommendation to continue with periodic spinal checkups to maintain your body's improvements. For some this might mean once per year, for others this may mean once per month or more because it is dependent upon your activity levels and the amount of stress you put your body and spine through on a regular basis. Chiropractic spinal checkups provide similar benefits to the spine that dental checkups provide to the teeth. Namely, catching minor problems and disturbances before they have the opportunity to cause pain, discomfort and irreversible tissue changes. Just like with cavities and heart attacks, irreversible damage has generally occurred before the symptoms of pain and discomfort become apparent.
Along with coninuing a regular exercise program and eating well in order to sustain the benefits of exercise and proper diet, it is necessary to continue chiropractic care to ensure the health of your musculoskeletal system. The only time that any of these lifestyle changes are ineffective is when they are not being utilized. For instance, the only time exercises will not build healthy muscles is when you do not do them. The only time that eating well will not provide you with the benefits of a balanced diet is when you reach for the high sugar snack instead. Lastly, the only time you will not benefit form chiropractic care is when you do not see your doctor.
When you make routine chiropractic care a part of your lifestyle, you avoid many of the aches and pains and countless preventable health conditions that so many people suffer through, your joints will last longer, your muscles will feel less tense, you will stand straighter, you will experience more energy, and you will be able to engage in more of the activities you love. Simply, you will not only add more years to your life but you will have the benefit of adding more life to your years!
