Corrective Care: You Can't Fake This.
The second stage of care consists of correcting the problems which caused or contributed to your condition and then going forward with the healing and rehabilitating of those injured tissues. Unless these events take place, a long-lasting favorable outcome is unlikely and a higher potential for future recurrences of the problem exists. In order to prevent a rapid recurrence of symptoms, it is recommended to pursue corrective care even though your symptoms may be gone at that time.
The Corrective Phase of Care is analagous to teeth bracing for better dental hygiene. A patient may not be in pain, however they know that if their teeth are aligned properly they are going to benefit them from a health standpoint (less ability for food to become trapped between teeth, increased chewing surface area, better mechanical digestion of foods, etc) and it is more attractive to have a straighter smile. Well, the same can be said for Corretive Chiropractic Care in the sense that a properly aligned spine will cause less muscle tension, provide normal joint motion, create less wear and tear on body structures, reduce abnormal effects of irritation to the nervous system, and with create an improved posture that will not only have you feeling healthier, but looking it as well!
Lastly, it is extremely important that a person comply with and follow the instructions given by the doctor during this stage of care because tissues and structures that are not fully healed and rehabilitated can be prone to future problems or unfortunate flare-ups of the condition. Our goal is not only to help you get out of pain, but to do everything we can to reduce the liklihood that it will come back. Therefore, sticking to appointments, complying with home exercises, and following all other recommendations will help accelerate the healing process and get you back to doing what you love much sooner.
